Culture Jujitsu – a political thesis describing the West Civilization’s Achilles Heel
In 2016 I drafted a thesis describing the tactical and strategic agility of those who would undermine our Western Culture. I came up with the term ‘Culture Jujitsu,‘ and I’m playing around with a couple of definitions. Cultural Jujitsu is my political thesis describing West’s Achilles Heel.
Draft Definitions
- One is the ‘subversive use of a culture’s base principals and best practices against itself to diminish its influence while subtly replacing it with another.’
- A more refined version might be the ‘art of leveraging an opponent’s cultural traditions and strengths by finding their inherent weaknesses and exploiting them.’
Hmmm,,, Perhaps both definitions need work. I’ll come up with something that best describes the thought. Below is the opening extract of the two page PDF. The link leads to the remainder of the current version of the draft article explaining the idea.

I recently re-read my draft and think that my thesis is as relevant today as when I wrote it back in 2016. What also is evident is that it’s in dire need of editing and re-writing to offer greater clarity of though. I’ll get on it……soon…..

Culture Jujitsu Draft version 1.0 (3 April 2016) – Cultural Jujitsu political thesis describing West’s Achilles Heel
ISIS or ISIL (pick your flavor) is challenging America and Europe’s very survival by attacking its cultural traditions with an effective use of combining the military and information instruments of traditional power in a novel way. They’ve engaged in political persuasion to compel the change they foster by the art and science of Culture Jujitsu! Perhaps it’s just a more refined version of Guerrilla warfare but I describe this practice as ‘the subversive use of a culture’s base principals and best practices against itself to diminish its influence while subtly replacing it with another’.
Perhaps the description could use some refinement itself but it is the practice of leveraging an opponent’s cultural traditions and strengths by finding their inherent weaknesses and exploiting them.
‘Western Culture’ has a rich tapestry of varying views and practices, but the traditions are basically founded from a core root of common values. Most Western cultures posses strong inclinations towards some form of unfettered thought and public speech; a robust tolerance to the open practice any religion; and an aversion towards controlled individual movement within a country’s borders. These are but a few of the values that molded the policies and laws that promoted Western economic, military and political dominance over the past 200 years……
